Does your child want to learn how to code?

Join the waiting list of people waiting for Game Dev 101 to launch its next session! Suitable for children ages 12-16.

WHO IS THE INSTRUCTOR?

Kenny Taer is a Senior Web Developer at a local marketing agency, a Chief Technical Officer for a local SaaS company and a Creative Director of his very own game development studio developing an indie game called Ranchers of Kyvos.

We take some of the basic ideas behind game development and use them to teach simple yet powerful concepts in short, 16 hour, one-month-long courses.

Same, but different…?

Every time the class runs, we cycle through a rotation of 4 different games. We always cover the basics of HTML and Javascript at the beginning of class, but each game will require completely different problem-solving skills to complete, so we encourage you to join us for all of them!

Pong (Up Next)

This game will help teach the coder some basic AI to control the opponent's paddle as well as iterative loops to generate stages, along with the usual user input and gameloops ideas present in all games.

Dinosaur Run

A more modern game that almost everyone has experienced when their Google Chrome browser has timed-out. A simple yet rewarding game to create and learn basic coding fundamentals from.

Snake

A classic game for anyone who grew up in the 2000's, but it is still an amazing game to mimic to learn gameloops, user control input and randomly generated numbers in game development.

Pacman

A seemingly easy game to develop, but it will require a lot of problem solving to get it working exactly the way you'd expect it to run as a player.

What are the requirements?

Basic Math

Your child will need to have a solid grasp on basic math operators, such as addition, subtraction, division and multiplication.

Fluent in English

Due to the nature of the course, the class is only available in English and therefore your children must be fluent reading & typing it (ideally 20 wpm or more).

A Laptop

The specs of the laptop don't really matter. As long as it can run Google Chrome and a text editor you'll be okay. Anything from the last 5 years that is in running condition is more than enough.

Transportation

You will need to drop off and pick up your child at the Two Twenty on Mondays & Thursdays, at 6pm - 8pm.

Ages 12+

Due to the abstract nature of coding, we highly suggest you only send your children to this course at 12 years old or older. If you believe your child is able to manage this at a younger age, contact us and we can talk about it!

 What People Are Saying

"... My son was 11 yr old at the time and had little no coding knowledge prior. [...] He was extremely impressed with Kenny’s teaching style and demeanour stating “he is the nicest teacher I have ever met”. [...] We are very glad we found CCC and will be returning for future courses. I would personally highly recommend this course to anyone - young and old!"
